- Description
- Animation is a relatively overlooked area of art education and educators are not likely to have experience with the positive learning prospects that can be incorporated into the classroom. This medium proposes to encompass all teaching areas to broaden the spectrum of educational possibilities of all types of learners, including those with learning disabilities. Students and teachers show an enthusiasm for the medium but may lack the educational tools or, hold certain assumptions about animation that may make it a difficult medium to use within the confines of the classroom or institution. The intent of this project is to supply the reader with concrete forms and ideas that can assist educators in their attempts to integrate art education with different subject matter. Teaching aids such as simplified lesson plans for animation projects are included as well as discussions surrounding the benefits gained through using animation techniques and its historical development.

They develop an understanding of the importance of making plausible inferences about an image in order to gather information about a historical or contemporary situation or place. It includes instructional suggestions for teachers (learn about the strategy, practicing the strategy, independent student activities) and resources for students (data chart, rating scale, student guide, samples and self-assessment rubric). - The documentary video Flood of Change shares the story of three youth in Nepal and their movement to take action around water, sanitation and hygiene issues. The story is told by Nepalese youth who filmed 70% of the final footage and found the words and images to share their story. In this video, we learn about a diarrhea outbreak that happened in the Western Region of Nepal in 2009. The outbreak affected over 5,000 individuals and caused more than 464 deaths in 18 districts. The majority of the deaths were people in the ethnic group known as Dalits or "untouchables" who are a low income group in Nepal and have poor access to sanitation facilities and little education on safe water, sanitation and hygiene. A group of youth from Kathmandu mobilized to visit the region and create awareness about the importance of safe water and sanitation in the affected area.

The Future Goals program makes two digital learning resources available to your district at no cost. Future Goals - Hockey Scholar is for students in grades 5-7, exploring real-life applications of STEM concepts such as area/volume of an ice rink, conservation of energy of a falling puck, and speed/velocity using skates. This will be available Summer 2015 (in both English and French). The other resource is our digital citizenship resource. It's available now and also no cost to your school. This is a web-based course for students in grades 5-8, covering topics such as cyberbullying, online safety and conducting online research.

The focus of the lessons is to use the home as the space for learning. The possibility of running out and purchasing supplies, ingredients, or material may not be feasible for students and their families during this pandemic time. However, the rich experiences that already exist in the home have the potential to be amplified through intentional activities, reflection, and design.
