Description: "Learning about Homelessness in British Columbia" is a resource guide, produced by Jennifer Hale, for teachers to use with their students to support aspects of British Columbia senior high-school courses, including Civics 11, Social Studies 11, Economics 12, Family Studies 10-12, First Nations 12, Law 12, and Social Justice 12. Learning Standards: The lessons contained in the resource meet learning outcomes that are part of the mandated curriculum in the British Columbia Ministry of Education Integrated Resource Packages (IRPs). The resource is also appropriate for use in other courses and grade levels, and with other youth and adult groups.

Description: This fun-filled activity allows students to put on a simple production of "T'was the night before Christmas" in both French and English. In order to provide maximum participation, a teacher may wish to divide the lines of this classic poem so that each student recites 2 or 3 lines at a time. Each student would bring props, costumes and any set designs they wish. Be sure to allow students to take ownership of all aspects of the production (casting roles, direction, costumes, speech coaches, props manager, etc.). In the end, be sure to invite other classes to come watch this 5 minute performance. It's sure to put a jolly smile on students' faces.

Learning Standards: This activity meets many of the Prescribed Learning Outcomes for Core French relating to understanding cultural influences, spoken production, reading comprehension, and expressing acquired information in oral and visual forms.
