"This guide and interactive map could be used as a standalone unit for Black History Month. It could also provide a valuable local perspective for teachers using the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, as one example. As well, this project will be very relevant within a unit or theme of multiculturalism and anti-racism."

Description
The INFORM resource is broken into 4 parts that can be used as individually or as part of a cohesive unit. Part 1 & 2 define misinformation and disinformation, provide case studies and discussion questions to deepen understanding. Students are encouraged to connect this information with current events social and political events. Part 3 & 4 are specific to the COVID-19 crisis and provide definitions and clarifications of the language governments use to advise our community safety. There is also a complete list of Provincial, National, and International resources that educators, students and the broader community can use for reliable COVID related information.

Description
Students take a census of an outdoor site, and look for organisms that perform different “jobs” in the biotic community. A biotic (or natural) community is made up of the various organisms that live and interact with one another in a particular environment. As in a human community, its members have different roles and depend on each other for survival. In this activity, students examine a study area to find out what organisms live there and the ecological jobs or niches they fill.
