Description: At this point in the course, students are already familiar, with the verb “Ser”, as well as greetings, numbers, and the verbs gustar/encantar. The lesson will focus on the main differences between the verbs Ser vs Estar which are a couple of the most used verbs in the Spanish language. Another reason as to why I am focusing on these verbs is the fact that this pair of verbs can be particularly tricky for those who speak English as their first language, because they are both encompassed by the verb “to be”.

Description: This powerpoint is the slideshow that presented at the Superconference in Vancouver on October 21, 2017. It helps to show ways to introduce the core competencies to your students using great stories and supporting activities. The children create coloring pages of the core competencies and they can collect evidence (like these suggested activities) and keep them in a portfolio they can add to all year.

Learning Standards: Teachers can watch this presentation to see how the "My Core Competency Portfolio" and the "Core Competency Booklist and Suggested Activities" work together. This was presented by Janine Fraser at the Superconference on October 21, 2017.
