- The Healthy Habits Challenge is a 30 day initiative where students can track 6 healthy habits on an online platform. Data is sent weekly to teachers. The Healthy Habits notes are: healthy eating, physical activity, screen time, water intake, sleep time, and mental health (journaling). Challenges are run three times per year and classes or whole schools can sign up. The entire challenge is turnkey and all resources are FREE. The challenges are supported by our team, our resources, and prizes can include athlete visits, gym banners for most active schools, and much more. The goal of the challenges are to instil healthy habits at the elementary school age and allow the students to learn about accountability and goal setting while providing data on progress.

- I have been collecting great ideas and have put them together into a slide deck that can serve as a place for collection of evidence and reflections. We used the chrome extension "Screencastify" to take screenshots of pictures or pages on the screen that showed work or areas of interest. Resource 1 is a journal article from Kristen Lems entitled "Using Music in the Adult ESL Classroom" This article outlines ELL friendly activities that incorporate music to further understanding of sentence structure and grammar. Resource 2 is a video of a live performance of Hamilton: An American Musical. This video can be used in conjunction with a unit on musical genre, or musical theatre. Storyline of the show is presented in a slow, understandable delivery benefitting ELL students. Storyline is altered to present narrative of American History through immigrants, and people of colour, providing relevance to immigrant students in the classroom.

- I followed a student outside and captured an ordinary moment. I reflected on what I saw. I talked to another teacher for their thoughts. I talked to the parent of the student for their thoughts. I connected his learning with the curriculum and thought about what I would do in the classroom to further his learning and the learning of others. A pedagogical narration is the process and framework I used to make learning visible.

Many argue that race is socially constructed and that we are all part of the same human race. At the same time, scientists continue to research health issues, like sickle-cell anemia or diabetes, that impact some racial communities more than others. Why? Your assignment is to explore a topic in which Scientists have explored or had to address the idea of race! - Students take a census of an outdoor site, and look for organisms that perform different “jobs” in the biotic community. A biotic (or natural) community is made up of the various organisms that live and interact with one another in a particular environment. As in a human community, its members have different roles and depend on each other for survival. In this activity, students examine a study area to find out what organisms live there and the ecological jobs or niches they fill.

Students must quickly learn to manage finances, develop time-management skills, determine the program they would like to pursue (and courses to undertake), practice new studying techniques, and build their resume, among many other things. The Life After High School: A Post-Secondary Student’s Guide to Success resource booklet covers a variety of topics related to post-secondary education to provide practical and helpful infor- mation for students who would like to attend post-secondary school but may not know where to start. This booklet, developed by positive post-secondary students, provides information on mental wellness, academic life, social networking, career support, financial aid, and more. The Life After High School: A Post-Secondary Student’s Guide to Success aims to support students in their transition to post-secondary school and help students to reach their full potential!

- Resources shared are from the PSA Super Conference 2017 - Makerspace in the classroom workshop. Provides a big picture perspective of how MakerED connects to the new curriculum and ADST. Participants in this workshop will learn how the MakerEd movement with a STEAM focus is an effective way to integrate the Applied Design, Skills and Technology (ADST) curriculum into their classroom or school. We will explore the various buzzwords, resources, tools, technologies and potential assessment strategies found in classroom based makerspaces. Participants will have a hands on opportunity to explore littleBits (http://littlebits.cc/), Makey Makey (https://makeymakey.com/) and Micro:Bit tech (http://microbit.org/) and discuss strategies on how to connect ADST to a language arts/aboriginal unit.
