Description: The Exploring the Great Bear Sea Elementary and Secondary Curriculum Resources are based on the film The Great Bear Sea: Reflecting on the Past, Planning for the Future, by Green Fire Productions, and can be used to engage students on an inquiry-based, educational journey through the Great Bear Sea. The Great Bear Sea is a new name given to the North Coast of British Columbia (BC), an area that extends from Campbell River on Vancouver Island to the border of BC and Alaska. This region of British Columbia’s coast is one of the richest marine ecosystems in the world, has enormous cultural significance to the people who live here, and contains important resources for BC’s economy.

Description: This fun-filled activity allows students to put on a simple production of "T'was the night before Christmas" in both French and English. In order to provide maximum participation, a teacher may wish to divide the lines of this classic poem so that each student recites 2 or 3 lines at a time. Each student would bring props, costumes and any set designs they wish. Be sure to allow students to take ownership of all aspects of the production (casting roles, direction, costumes, speech coaches, props manager, etc.). In the end, be sure to invite other classes to come watch this 5 minute performance. It's sure to put a jolly smile on students' faces.

Learning Standards: This activity meets many of the Prescribed Learning Outcomes for Core French relating to understanding cultural influences, spoken production, reading comprehension, and expressing acquired information in oral and visual forms.
