- Everyone has a unique story to share. Stories help us learn about ourselves, our families, and other people. Curiosity and wonder leads us to new discoveries about ourselves and the world around us. By reading “And Tango Makes Three”, we not only learn about penguins and the penguin life cycle, but about other family structures (i.e. same-sex families) and how same-sex couples can become parents. This lesson plan can be used cross-curricula with Socials, PHE, ELA, and may also be used in Science (i.e. if combined with a stronger focus on the penguin life cycle, habitat, etc.)

- This lesson plan has two parts. Part one uses a storybook to introduce and explore gender identity and gender pronouns (she/he/they). By incorporating books with gender-diverse characters in the classroom, students will appreciate the gender spectrum, fluidity, and the use of gender pronouns. Part one consists primarily of discussion and a role-play activity. Part two builds upon part one and includes activities and worksheets.

- A free online course created by TRAC Tenant Resource and Advisory Centre and the Justice Education Society. Designed for first-time renters, the course covers both practical and legal topics to consider before deciding to rent. Students can complete activities such as creating a budget, thinking about their housing needs, preparing a list of references, writing a cover letter and pet resume, and ordering a credit report. The course is video-based, and sections can be viewed in any order. Students who complete the course and pass the final exam earn a certificate that can be presented to landlords when they apply for tenancy. By completing the course, students will be better equipped to find rental housing and succeed in their tenancies. Core skills, such as financial literacy, smart decision making, effective communication, and problem solving are a key focus of the material.
