Description
Lesson activities to accompany the vignette "Bows and Arrows” from the acclaimed Knowledge Network series; Working People: A History of Labour in British Columbia produced by Landrock Entertainment. The vignette explores the role of Aboriginal workers in the early years of the Port of Vancouver and the struggle for racial equality in the labour movement. The life of Bill Nahanee and the early years of the IWW (Industrial Workers of the World) are also featured in this lesson. This is a unit created by the Labour History Project, a group of retired and current British Columbia teachers collaborating to develop a series of lesson plans, activities, and workshops focused on labour studies and labour history. Description
Here is a cross-curricular unit on the diversity of living things and where they live. It includes lessons that explore living and non-living things; the differences between a need and want; and the biomes within Canada. There are lessons for outside, in the class, and computer labs with the intention of inquiry and student driven learning. Included is the interactive student notebook, a test, and an assessment for a 3D biome box project - with the intention that all 3 items are weighed evenly when accumulating evidence of learning.

Description
The Vancouver Canucks ®, in collaboration with the NHL® and the NHLPA, are excited to announce a new education initiative called Future Goals. The Future Goals program makes two digital learning resources available to your district at no cost. Future Goals - Hockey Scholar is for students in grades 5-7, exploring real-life applications of STEM concepts such as area/volume of an ice rink, conservation of energy of a falling puck, and speed/velocity using skates. This will be available Summer 2015 (in both English and French). The other resource is our digital citizenship resource. It's available now and also no cost to your school. This is a web-based course for students in grades 5-8, covering topics such as cyberbullying, online safety and conducting online research.
