- Description
- This text is illustrated with updated graphs, photos and cites the work of hundreds of scientists and organizations such as the IPCC, NASA, Environment Canada, Royal Society of Canada, and Natural Resources Canada, to name a few. My resource is an update on the science of climate change, extreme weather, protecting nature and biodiversity, advancing renewable energy, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions with frequent reference to Canada and in particular British Columbia. Global impacts, mitigation and adaptation are explained throughout the text. My ten years of research cites reputable journals, national and international organizations and the media. Research covers climate change from the Arctic to the Antarctic, projection of climate change, how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, El Nino/La Nina, extreme weather, renewables, the oil sands and transport of bitumen, and Canada's contribution at the UN COP meetings. This book is meant as a resource for our youths to make wise decisions about their future. **Revised edition uploaded September 2019.

- Description
- For children to strengthen their ability to manage their behaviour when they are experiencing strong feelings, an essential skill is to identify their feelings. It is never too early to talk to children about feelings, build their feeling vocabulary and to help them see the link between feelings and behaviour. Linking these together demonstrates how our feelings can affect the choices we make. It can also improve children’s emotional-management.

- How did a secondary school initiate a culture transformation that virtually eliminated calls to the office for disrespectful behaviour between students in the first 3 months? At John Oliver Secondary School in Vancouver, this radical shift involved several factors: fostered student leadership, informed staff and the following, simple activity that was the catalyst for actions leading to feelings of being respected, valued and safe.

- Early elementary students experience a tactile and visual lesson about how unkind words can “wrinkle” your heart. The lesson develops emotional intelligence by making the connection between words, actions and feelings. This lesson, when introduced at the beginning of the year, allows educators to refer back to the concept of a wrinkled heart during times when students are having difficulty getting along or being kind.
