Description
The Edge of the World: BC's Early Years is a series of short documentaries I produced and directed for the Knowledge Network about the early history of British Columbia. Presented as a series of engaging 20 short documentaries, this DVD is an excellent starting point for discussions about 19th century life and politics in Canada and the province. Description
The year is 1841 and the Act of Union has just been signed. The last four or five years have been very chaotic in the Canadas and now that the rebellions, the Durham Report, and the Act of Union are in the past, it is time to look back and create a commemorative magazine about this important time in Canadian history.

Description
The goal of this assignment is for you to learn that the foundation of the country of Canada that we enjoy today was laid down by the people who lived in the 19th century and before. We all stand on the shoulders of ancestors who came before us - from all over the world.

Description
Posted by Greg Kochanuk: Adapted over a period of years from an idea in Canada Revisited, this simulation is probably the highlight of Socials 10 for me (and I think for my students, too :-) Students assume the roles of settlers in Pre-Rebellions of 1837/8 Canada. My instructions here are pretty explicit, but feel free to post a question if you have it. The accompanying text should be re-typed, as I can't seem to find my original digital copies-you get stuck with the scanned version. For basic Canadian Settlers data, you can use any SS10 textbook-don't feel compelled to use the one I supply here.
