This unit on creating a fictional tropical island has several parts. First, students will create a personal, visual dictionary that they will use to create their project. Students will also create a postcard, character qualities sketch, and a brochure. This project could be adapted for use with studying La Francophonie. Assessment rubrics are included. An excellent resource is Addison Wesley's Publication: Visages 1 Thème 8: Dans une île and the Student Workbook pages 98-103.
Students are expected to know the following: common high frequency vocabulary, sentence structures for communicating, specifically describing locations and cultural aspects of communities.
